18×22″ oil paint on primed paper; like a “blueprint” for a painting, only brown.

An opportunity to do a series of four  to six celebration paintings arrived for me over the weekend. A grand reception hall is under construction, and the owners would like some playful paintings for the walls. I am thinking that 4×5 feet would be an adequate size for the spaces. So on large drawing paper, I am beginning to work out possibilities. The paintings would be much larger. Here you can see how I begin placing elements, wiping out, changing, and thinking through the composition. If I work out something I like, I can later transfer it to canvas. This way, I can make all my mistakes ahead of time.
