I took four of these carnations from a planter that flanked my father’s funeral casket. Most of my life, the smell of a fresh carnation took me right back to the Easter corsages that he would by for his “girls”… the ones of pastel colors with soft, fuzzy chicks nestled in them. In honor of Spring soon to come, Easter, Dad…I had to paint them, increasing them for the composition.
