Journey’s End ( first phase)

The above photo was sent to me in order to create a painting that would raise awareness about the plight of some older dogs. This lovely creature, a whippet, looks like he knows his final day is near; usually,  no one wants to buy an older dog. Fortunately, this beautiful canine was not so heart-rending to paint, since I knew that for this one, there is a happy ending. Someone did come to take him home. Here, the layers of paint are just pushed in, and I am finding my way through the unique form of this fine animal. In the next two days, I will post the following phases of the painting.
