Pulling Out the Darks

Last week’s last entry showed a way to preserve most of a painting when you want to make only certain changes. I aim to bring out the orchids a bit more with a cooler background, so I used a thin bluish layer of color to coat the work. I can see enough of the original painting to rework it as I wish. Above, I am repainting the darks and establishing their pattern with new determination.
