As often happens, this painting did not go quite in the direction I wanted. But sometimes it is enough to let it have its say. Perhaps I will let it speak for now. In the future, it may get the paintbrush again…

    The final painting is a surprising transformation. I still see touches from the previous versions. Very nice.

    Yes, about Picasso, Christie. The man after my own heart was Degas who used to go back and steal his work off of walls to try to improve them. I can so relate to that! I have learned, for better or worse…to let my imperfection show. Sometimes I talk myself into thinking that it is the imperfection in the work that gives it charm. (I may be the only one agreeing with myself).

    I think the roses are lovely. I also believe the other paintings are just right for another mood. another day. Tomorrow, another might be my
    favorite. There’s something special about the glass and bottles. Only a bit of freedom, or less perfect, might enhance the reality.
