Room With a View

Does your heart have a room? Is it a room with a view? Is there a place for the Lord to sit down and make himself comfortable? Interiors sometimes inspire such thoughts in me. This is “Founder’s Room,” inside the retreat center called “Mercy by the Sea” in Madison, Connecticut. A wall of glass allows one to look out over the Long Island Sound and the lapping waters of the shore. The painting is completely simple and just for enjoyment.
Begonia Beauties

Two golden begonia blooms emerged from lines, pot, and leaves one day, as I passed by my mother’s front porch. As long as a plant showed the scraggliest of hope, clinging to life, she would tend it carefully. But these flowers were thriving in their hanging pot, when I snapped their photo and tucked it away for a future painting. To life!
Juicy Fruit

Perfect fruit, quenching crunch, health in the hand, oh apple of Eden, how many artists have painted you? I also have tried to capture your good side. Do you have a bad one? This time, the green of the peel is what appealed. I painted and ate and was satisfied.
Lady Peony

I know it is Fall, but I still have this one last peony to post! If I had my wish, they would bloom even in the snow. This small painting was an exercise in getting more paint on the board, something I need to practice.
Pumpkin Spray

Fall arrived, crisp, cool, and clean. This is a small centerpiece for anywhere just to celebrate the season. I tried painting it with a black calligraphy line for a lighthearted statement. Goodbye warm summer days; hello falling leaves and windy weather. Good night, dear trees.
