A reading child has always meant much to me. This lovely child seems to be reading from a small prayerbook. I found her in the form of a graceful statue, about 3 feet tall, in Coesfeld,Germany. She is dressed like a school girl of the 1800’s with black velvet bodice, white blouse and blue skirt. I was told it was the “uniform” of the time in Coesfeld. The painting above was an attempt to bring the dark bronze of the statue to life from my reference photos. I will probably still fuss with it a bit.
