Below are two earlier stages of many of this nearly refined painting. Pure and innocent, a child attuned to heaven.

Blocking in first layer of color, usually darker and bolder to serve as shadow tones in final.
Sketching and beginning to block in color on a toned board.

    1. Thank you for checking on her, Sister Melannie. What first attracted me was her angelic face, however, I could not resist the coils of bountiful hair. Really, so many layers go on top of first layers, but you see how rough are my starts before a finish.
