Sunflower Encore

These sunflowers just could not be ignored. Having added splendor to a 90th Birthday party, they were still begging to be painted. The differences in their faces and their haphazard placement proved irresistible.

Butterfly #16

This is a rather dramatic swallowtail, all in black and gold. Did you know that you can make your garden butterfly friendly? Be sure to include nectar plants, some areas of water, sun, and shade, and some bright colored flowers that may help to attract.

Butterfly #14

So many light winged beauties in this world…Here is another well-dressed butterfly. It is believed that a million years ago, some groups of butterflies came from Asia over the Bering Strait and down into the Americas. Earth would have been much warmer then, making the trip plausible.

Red Roses (2nd Half)

The red roses have been further developed and are near finish. The rose is a natural mandala, a “concentric configuration of geometric shapes,” and a symbol of peace.

Red Roses (1st Half)

Red roses have so much allure for poetry or paint! This is the “under-painting” for a small work which I hope will turn into the image I have in mind. Every painting is a surprise…we will have to see.

Meet Sr.Maresa

I am Sister Maresa Lilley, a member of the Sisters of Notre Dame, located in Chardon, Ohio, USA. For many years, I have enjoyed a passion that permits me to reflect upon simple reality with a brush in hand. To capture a simple essence on canvas and to discover inherent beauty is a daily immersion.
