Daughter of St. Clare

This is a small painting from the photo of yesterday; it brings a smile to my lips that a modern day Franciscan was using the window seat just as the Sisters of St. Clare did 800 years ago. The convent building has to be about 1000 years old, but surely the glass windows were added in recent times for pilgrim protection from the elements. Though St. Clare wrote her own rule for the first “Poor Ladies”, her spirit and ideals were those of St. Francis who inspired her to give her life to Christ. Today, Clare’s Sisters are called “Poor Clares”.

Meet Sr.Maresa

I am Sister Maresa Lilley, a member of the Sisters of Notre Dame, located in Chardon, Ohio, USA. For many years, I have enjoyed a passion that permits me to reflect upon simple reality with a brush in hand. To capture a simple essence on canvas and to discover inherent beauty is a daily immersion.
