Gannets

Stage 3: Turning up the lights 9 x 12″ oil paint on canvas panel

This regal creature caught my attention in the free photos on Pixabay. The photo was tagged with Georg_Wietschorke. Though his photo had a few more birds in the background, I like to simplify for what I think has greater punch. Gannet comes from the old English word for gander which was ganot. These golden head beauties make their homes in the coastal regions of the North Atlantic. See earlier stages of the painting process below.
