Here is lilac from our big yard in Chardon, Ohio, along with the always enticing peony. Set them in a crystal pitcher and you have an irresistible still life to paint. I did try to give this movement and life, however. The varnish is catching too much light in this image; in reality, the painting has greater clarity and depth.
