This was a special request from a customer to paint the Sorrowful Mother from a small public domain image. Traditionally, the Church contemplates Seven Sorrows that would, according to the prophet Simeon, pierce her heart. Luke 2:35
1 – The prophecy of Simeon
2 – The flight into Egypt
3 – The losing of the Holy Child at Jerusalem
4 – The meeting with Jesus on His way to Calvary
5 – Standing at the foot of the Cross
6 – Our Lord being taken from the Cross
7 – The burial of Christ
