Today, in the Catholic Church, we celebrate the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God. While the world welcomes the New Year, we welcome the New Dawn in the Christmas miracle. This is a traditional image in the eastern European churches, and I painted it for a priest from his paper copy. The faces of the original are a bit more austere, so I asked if he would mind if I gave the faces just a bit more tenderness.
