Drama Queens (Stage 1)
Finally, Spring is raising her flowered head in our traditional blossoms that sometimes break through the snowy earth. Yellow bonnets of daffodils usually enhance our Easter bouquets. To simplify their architecture, I have concentrated on the yellow mass that makes the arrangement. Each stage ahead will define them more as I move from darker tones of paint to lighter.

Today the Church celebrates the Feast of the Annunciation, moved because its usual date of March 25 fell in Passion Week this year. Her yes to the angel opened the heavens for us. She, so young, was already that mature hollow reed ready for God’s breath. She was His perfect instrument in the symphony of salvation.
Dame de Juenes Danseurs (Stage 5)
This is the nearly finished image of the Young Lady Dancers that I have been posting in previous days. The painting still needs the final highlights and some little detail. The costumes have more ribbons falling from the shoulders which will give more movement to the dance. As you can see, some paintings take a lot more time!
Dame de Juenes Danseurs (Stage 4)
The high solemnities of Easter Weekend took me away for a few days from the “Young Lady Dancers”. Happy Easter to all! When I returned to these lovely little dancers, I realized that there would yet be a few more stages and layers in the painting process, but here we are with further development on each young lady. ( See previous posts.) Refinements of all kinds still to come!
Dame de Jeunes Danseurs (Stage 2)
In stage 2, you can see that I worked on more careful rendering of proportion and gesture; there is more to do on the feet. But I concentrated on the black leotards that will create a dark, interesting pattern to support the heads and the arms of the young ladies. Sadly, I really do not know French, but “Young Lady Dancers” sounds so much better in this lyrical language.
