Bright Candies

Any chocolate will do, but the cellophane and colorful foils, made these candies irresistable…to paint! I confess, I did eat them, after setting up this small still life, and then trying to imitate their shiny surfaces and clear wrappers. The statement here is celebrate!…with all the children of the world, young or old.
Piano Piece

Far from Ohio, in the state of Connecticut, stands this dignified piano. It no doubt witnessed much of history in this grand room of sunlit windows, and the past is marked in its wood and ivory. I wonder how much music it has spilled into this favorite room, and she is still open and ready for the next musician.
Fruit of the Vines

September sun tempered these delicious tomatoes dropping from their vines. I carried a whole fragrant basket home, fresh picked and bursting with juice. Nothing gets eaten before the question is raised: Will it last long enough to be painted? Such is my judgment upon garden gifts these days.
Amelia

At work or play, a child is usually enrapt in the moment. Such focus we work hard to recover in our multi-tasking adulthood. Amelia is growing young plants like any expert gardener. Her grandmother who caught this shot is tending her, and our good Creator is tending all.
Room With a View

Does your heart have a room? Is it a room with a view? Is there a place for the Lord to sit down and make himself comfortable? Interiors sometimes inspire such thoughts in me. This is “Founder’s Room,” inside the retreat center called “Mercy by the Sea” in Madison, Connecticut. A wall of glass allows one to look out over the Long Island Sound and the lapping waters of the shore. The painting is completely simple and just for enjoyment.
