Many Are Called

11 x 14 x .5″ oil paint on stretched canvas

In the parable of the wedding feast in Mt. 22:14, Jesus says, “For many are called, but few are chosen.” These sheep looked to me as if they were responding to the shepherd….almost.

Lovely Weather for Ducks

11 x 14 x .5″ oil paint on stretched canvas

Landscapes with a little twist draw me in and this one called for paint. The free photo I used was more of a silhouette of black against gold, so I added more of my own color scheme.

Riona Riverdance

10 x 8″ oil paint on canvas panel

Step dancing, anyone? Riona is ragdoll ready.

Light and Guide

10 x 8″ oil paint on canvas panel

I painted this angel from a photo of sculpture. I am drawn most often to the lines and planes that carved images present. Of course, I take a few of my own liberties like the ball of light. The statue had lost its arms over time.

Juncos

8 x 10″ oil paint on canvas panel

Visiting my window recently are these sweet white-bellied Juncos. He has a black coat and hers is a little charcoal gray. I read that they will build their nests anywhere from tall grasses to treetops.

Meet Sr.Maresa

I am Sister Maresa Lilley, a member of the Sisters of Notre Dame, located in Chardon, Ohio, USA. For many years, I have enjoyed a passion that permits me to reflect upon simple reality with a brush in hand. To capture a simple essence on canvas and to discover inherent beauty is a daily immersion.
