Jesus the Healer

This work was painted five years ago and sold; I enter it here because I am a bit behind in my own choices for this weekly blog. With three other requests underway, I am resorting to a past post. Lately, I notice that my paintings have been a bit tight, and this portrait of Jesus is how I most like and desire to paint–loose and free.
By the Name of Mary

We sometimes forget that Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was so like us in so many ways. Swallowed up in the human condition, she too had hardship and uncertainty stretching her faith into an unknown future. She was at one time just a girl who generously gave her yes.
Stay With Us, Lord

Jesus will abide with us if only we ask. (See Lk. 24: 28-29)
Like Sheep Without a Shepherd

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
(Mt.9:36)
Duke

Earlier in the year, I was asked to paint this pair of pals as a potential wedding anniversary gift. The woman whose name I never learned was fond of her hiking partner Duke, now deceased, so her husband commissioned me to produce this image from his photo. The anniversary is now past so, alas, I am revealing.
