Painted Lady

6 x 6 x 1.5″ oil paint on stretched canvas; use ‘comment’ below to inquire. This lacy peony enticed me to paint her on a square format. She is really much pinker rather than blue as my camera version shows here. The little butterfly is called a Painted Lady, but either subject could fit the […]

Leisure Reading

6 x 8″ oil paint on canvas sheet; use ‘comment’ below to inquire. In elementary school, reading was an imaginary flight to anywhere for me. I devoured library books and went through Nancy Drew and Cherry Ames series, not to forget, shelves of lives of the saints. I hope that long into the future children […]

Trumpet Trill

6 x 8″ oil paint on canvas sheet; use ‘comment’ below to inquire. These last two posts of musicians were painted with brush and painting knife which adds intriguing texture.

Sax Song

8 x 6″ oil paint on canvas sheet; use ‘comment’ below to inquire. It must take a lot of “wind” to produce the energetic sounds of the sax. Musicians are always a wonder to me…translating small marks on lines into soulful and expressive tones.

Flourishes of White

8 x 6″ oil paint on canvas sheet; use ‘comment’ below to inquire. The semi-abstract quality enticed me to paint this floral, along with the line design of the stems. I thought it would make a bold statement, but I am not so sure that was achieved.

Impromptu

8 x 6″ oil paint on canvas sheet; use ‘comment’ below to inquire. Tulips always make a lovely floral statement. These are a bit richer pink than my camera can capture.

Luxurious Lilac

8 x 6″ oil paint on canvas sheet; use ‘comment’ below to inquire. Impressionism is all about suggesting the image and letting the brain do the rest. Lilac especially lends itself, or I would be painting a zillion tiny, four-petal flowerets. It is a joy to ‘suggest’ this sumptuous and fragrant flower.

Lord of Heaven and Earth

12 x 9″ oil paint on canvas panel; use ‘comment’ below to inquire. I gave this regal Jesus a more Mediterranean countenance. May our Link between heaven and earth bless us.

Appreciation

11 x 14″ oil paint on stretched canvas; use ‘comment’ below to inquire. After a luncheon to thank all participants, I was gifted with the table centerpiece. Of course, it begged to be painted.

Blessed Are the Meek

6 x 8″ oil paint on canvas sheet; use ‘comment’ below to inquire. This is a whimsical interpretation of Jesus on the mount, teaching the Beatitudes…”Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth”.
